Operating from RAF Molesworth, England, Thunderbird earned a reputation as an exceptionally lucky aircraft, completing her entire combat career without a single regular crew member being killed or wounded.

Much like many of her contemporaries, Thunderbird was returned to the US after the war, sent to Kingman, Arizona, and unceremoniously scrapped. This same short sightedness continues to this day. Iconic veteran aircraft with incredible stories continued to be sent to the furnace.
