VF-17 was a Fighter Squadron of the US Navy established in 1943. As the 2nd Navy Squadron to receive the F4U Corsair, VF-17 adopted a Skull & Crossbones Jolly Rogers Flag as Squadron Insignia to match the buccaneering name of their new Aircraft.
While based in the Solomon Islands in 1943, the Jolly Rogers would shoot down 8 Japanese planes for every Corsair lost, racking-up 152 Victories & producing 11 Aces. In 1944, armed with the F6F Hellcat aboard the USS Hornet, VF-17 would also achieve spectacular results. Overall, VF-17 was credited with 313 Victories, the most of any US Navy Squadron. Postwar, VF-17 was redesignated as VF-61, and disestablished in 1959.
Our Vintage VF-17 T-Shirt pays tribute to the Wartime History of this Legendary WWII Squadron, and is inspired by VF-17's Original Jolly Rogers Insignia. Crafted with a Premium T-Shirt in Black Heather, it's comfortable, durable and supremely soft. The Left Sleeve features a 909 Apparel® Logo.
